Since 1957, Christian Aid Week has brought faith and action together to help families survive poverty and violence, and communities rebuild after crisis.

This is all thanks to the amazing support of churches, communities and individuals who choose to walk, run, bake, dance, make, and do whatever it takes to help make lasting change.

Who will Christian Aid Week support this year?

This Christian Aid Week, your support could help mothers in Nairobi, Kenya, facing the devastating reality of urban poverty and the daily struggle to feed their children.

By funding urban farming projects alongside specialist training from our partner Beacon of Hope, we can help parents fight food insecurity, grow fresh vegetables in small city spaces and earn an income to support their families.

This May, we invite you to help mothers like Fridah Moraa and Belinda Kasudi living in crowded informal settlements so they can protect their children from hunger and grow a more hopeful future.

Fridah's story

Fridah lives in the busy informal settlement of Dagoretti in Nairobi, where feeding her family was once a daily struggle.

With tools and training from Christian Aid’s partner, Beacon of Hope, she now grows vegetables in a small city space to feed her family and earn an income.

'Now I can plan. I can buy this; I can buy that. I can help my family.'

Belinda's story

Belinda lives with her husband and five children in a one-room home in Dagoretti, where unreliable work meant the fear of hunger was constant.

Through the Imarisha Kilimo project, Belinda has been able to grow food, support her family, and save for her children’s education.

'Knowing that I can grow savings and use them for needs that come up, has really helped me.'

Christian Aid Week

7 days to make a difference

Every year in May, thousands of people across Britain and Ireland give, act, and pray. Christian Aid Week is a chance to stand with our global neighbours.

It's a moment to share laughter and hope and raise vital funds that transform lives and help fight injustice – from debt and food insecurity to the climate crisis and malnutrition.

Over the years, we’ve built something powerful; the unstoppable power of hope.

Right now, people around the world need that hope more than ever.

Who is Christian Aid?

Christian Aid is an international charity determined to fight poverty and respond to humanitarian emergencies, no matter how tough it gets.

Our work first began in 1945 when churches across Ireland and the UK came together to respond to the urgent refugee crises following the Second World War.

We're rooted in the Christian faith and supported by churches, but our work supports all people in need regardless of belief.

United by hope, we work with organisations and people of all faiths and none, and our partners reflect the diversity of the communities they serve.

Together, we deliver essential programmes across the world and raise awareness and funds to support lasting change.

By turning hope into action, we’re helping to build a fairer, more peaceful world.
